Breaking a sweat during your workouts may reduce your risk of stroke.
Researchers found that people who exercised intensely enough to sweat at least four times per week were 20 percent less likely to have a stroke or mini-stroke than people who exercised less than once per week.
Exercise affects stroke risk because it helps reduce other risk factors: blood pressure, weight and diabetes.
More research is needed to see how duration of exercise affects your risk of stroke. But it’s good to stick to the American Heart Association’s recommendation of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week.
