Your kids may not be as fit as you when you were their age.

Cardiovascular endurance has significantly declined in children 9-17 years old compared with kids the same age 30 years ago, according to a new study.

Today, kids run about a minute and half slower than children 30 years ago, and they’re about 15 percent less fit than their parents were when they were their age.

In every decade in 1970-2000, fitness levels declined about 6 percent among U.S. children and 5 percent around the world.

More children are also overweight/obese, contributing to the decline in fitness. Decline in fitness during childhood might lead to poor health in adulthood.

Kids should participate in at least 60 minutes of vigorous physical activity a day.
