A $7.2 billion cut to the National Institutes of Health, as well as many other decreases would cause a “devastating blow” to medical research and leave promising work undone or put on hold, American Heart Association’s president said Tuesday about President Trump’s proposed fiscal budget.
AHA President Steven Houser, Ph.D., also said that several other cuts in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018 could hurt public health while eroding funding for programs that help vulnerable Americans.
