Elliott-Antman-M_D_-239x300American Heart Association President Elliot Antman, M.D. is heading to Beijing, China, to participate in the annual Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology.

The conference will be held Oct. 16- 19 at the China National Convention Center.

As an invited speaker, Dr. Antman will chair and lecture in a joint AHA/GW-ICC session entitled “Atrial Fibrillation: A Global Epidemic in Need of Solutions.”

Dr. Antman also will participate in leadership meetings with scientists from the GW-ICC and authorities from the Ministry of Science and Technology to discuss the AHA’s Get With the Guidelines and Emergency Cardiovascular Care programs.

The Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology will celebrate its 25th anniversary during the conference.  Due to the anniversary, the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology will publish a special issue to commemorate the 25 years of history and development of all things heart-related in China. Every year scientists and researchers share and provide information on the latest cardiovascular science knowledge worldwide based on their findings.

Several other AHA presidents have attended the conference previously, including: Mariell Jessup, M.D., Donna Arnett, M.D. and Gordon Tomaselli, M.D.
